Kodiak Protein Waffles Recipe
Looking for a waffle that has a little extra protein? This Kodiak protein waffles recipe is delicious, includes whole grains, and it’s only 3 ingredients!
I’m a HUGE fan of waffles, and I make them for my family all the time. In an effort to eat more whole grains and protein, I’ve fallen in love with Kodiak Pancake and Flapjack mix. I buy mine in bulk from Costco Canada. Combining this mix with an egg and milk creates an easy, healthy alternative waffle for one! You can quadruple this recipe if you want to make Kodiak waffles for the whole family.
If you love quick breakfast recipes, you’ll also enjoy my yogurt bowl recipe as well as my instant pot egg bites that can be made in advance and refrigerated for later.
Ingredients
- Kodiak Buttermilk Power Cakes Mix (I buy mine in bulk at Costco Canada)
- milk
- egg

What is Kodiak mix?
Kodiak Buttermilk Buttermilk Power Cake Flapjack & Waffle Mix is a ready-made pancake or waffle mix that contains 100% whole grains and 14g of protein per 1/2 cup serving. I buy my mix on bulk at Costco, but many grocery stores have it. I like the whole grain taste, and it makes delicious pancakes by simply adding water. The additional ingredients in this recipe add even more protein, and create a rich & fluffy batter that’s perfect for waffles.
Instructions
Mix the Kodiak mix, milk & egg in a bowl.
Pour onto a large waffle maker, cook, and enjoy!
Hint: Brush your waffle maker with some oil before pouring your batter in.
Substitutions
- Milk – use your favourite dairy or plant-based milk. I use dairy milk for the added protein, but you can try unsweetened almond milk, soy milk or oat milk.
Toppings
I like to drizzle my waffle with nut butter and sprinkle with hemp hearts for added healthy fats and protein. However, you can top your waffle with anything you’d like! My kids love berries & whipped cream on their waffles.
- Sweet – drizzle with maple syrup and sprinkle with chocolate chips for a sweet version.
- PB & J – drizzle with peanut butter and honey for a spin on a classic.
- Fruity – chop up your favourite fresh fruit like strawberries and peaches, and combine with a dollup of whipped cream.
- Yogurt – spoon some Greek yogurt on top of your waffle and sprinkle that with chia seeds.
Equipment
This is my favourite waffle maker. Bonus: you can use it to cook omelettes, too!
