Delicious Peanut Satay Sauce (made with Peanut Butter Powder!)

· · · ·

This is one of my absolute favourite sauces and it tastes divine on a salad or as a marinade for meat. Once you try this delicious peanut butter powder satay sauce, you’ll want to make it every single week! It’s also super easy to make!

Peanut Satay Sauce

This peanut butter powder satay sauce has a rich, nutty taste with the perfect blend of oil, vinegar and hint of fresh ginger. My favourite use for this delicious sauce is on this Thai Peanut Noodle Bowl for lunch!

Why use peanut butter powder instead of peanut butter?

This satay sauce uses a powdered peanut butter instead of traditional peanut butter. I like the PB&Me brand, especially this organic variety. What’s the benefit? It has about 87% less fat that regular peanut butter and it’s about 1/3 of the calories. However, peanut butter powder still has 6g of protein per 12g serving.1

FAQ

Where did peanut satay sauce come from?

Bumbu kacang (peanut sauce) seems to have originated in Indonesia2, but many cultures have their own version of peanut sauce. This particular recipe is actually closer to a Thai version, which is sweeter.

What can you eat with peanut satay sauce?

I love it on a noodle bowl like this one, but you can also use it as a salad dressing or as a dip for chicken or vegetable skewers.

What does satay mean?

A satay is “a Southeast Asian food consisting of small pieces of meat or fish cooked on a stick, and served with a spicy peanut sauce.”3
