Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte Inspired by Starbucks
Christina Dennis
If you’ve ever found yourself dreaming about a refreshing yet unique drink that combines the earthy richness of matcha with the vibrant sweetness of strawberries, then you’re in for a treat!
Wash, hull, and chop 3 medium sized strawberries. Add them to a blender with 2 tbsp of water and the maple syrup. Blend until smooth to create a strawberry puree.
Measure out 1 teaspoon of matcha powder into a drinking glass. Pour 2 tbsp of hot water into the glass. Using a battery operated whisk, whisk the matcha and water together until the mixture becomes frothy and smooth.
Pour the milk into your Nespresso frother. Use the cold froth setting to whip the milk into a creamy foam. If you don’t have a Nespresso frother, a handheld frother or a whisk can also do the trick. The goal is to create a foam that is light and airy but still holds its shape when poured over the matcha. Pour the ice and then the cold foamed milk over the matcha mixture.
Finally, drizzle the homemade strawberry syrup over the cold foam. The syrup will slowly sink through the foam, creating a gorgeous marbled effect and infusing the drink with sweet strawberry flavor. Mix with a straw, and your DIY Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte is now ready to be enjoyed!
Notes
You can use more maple syrup if you prefer a sweeter drink.
